"The total offering from WCW was decisive, both in terms of price and in terms of service and accessibility."

About Luyckx

More than 70 years ago, Louis Luyckx and Céline Vermeiren Luyckx started their forestry business. It was short-lived, as they soon saw the potential in the agricultural sector.

In 1955, the first welding works began. And the rest is history. Today, Luyckx is one of the leading national distributors of machinery for civil engineering, material handling, and agriculture.

Today, the second generation leads the company. Jos Luyckx runs the business with his sisters Paula and Chantal. And recently, they faced a challenge.

“Everything is getting heavier and bulkier, so we struggled with space and capacity shortages. That’s why we decided to relocate the entire welding construction, engineering, and machining departments to the new factory hall, so we can work there fully autonomously. A separate business unit, so to speak,” says Jos Luyckx.

“With the renewed machinery, we also want to further automate. We want to make the flow within this new entity even more efficient and performant. An additional advantage is that this time we can start from a clean slate.”

Wouters Cutting & Welding was no stranger to Luyckx. In 2012, they had already purchased a MicroStep cutting machine.

“The comprehensive offer from Wouters Cutting & Welding was decisive back then, both in terms of price, service, and accessibility.”

It was now especially important that the new machine had bevel cutting capabilities. Additionally, it needed to be able to cut plates of at least 350mm.

“Without hesitation, we turned to Wouters Cutting & Welding again,” says Jos. “This time, we chose the MicroStep CombiCut, 28.5 meters long and 3 meters wide, supplemented with two portals; one with bevel plasma with the Kjellberg Q 4500 plasma cutting system, and a second with an oxy-fuel cutting head.”

This gives them an excellent cutting machine. They can now cut, drill, tap, cut pipes and boiler heads, and much more.

“Thanks to the sturdy construction and the elevated portal, the machine is also very suitable for heavy oxy-fuel worksays Nic Wouters from Wouters Cutting & Welding. “With oxy-fuel cutting, we can process material thicknesses up to 400 mm, something we do very often” adds Jos. “The plates lie perfectly flat on the machine.”

“We are very satisfied with the direct communication line, proactive actions, and optimal after-sales service that Wouters Cutting & Welding provides us”, concludes Jos Luyckx.
