Petrochemicals

When you think of petrochemicals, you think of large metal storage tanks. A lot of cutting work is involved in making such tanks. For the precise cutting of plates, domes (boiler heads) and tubes, we provide the perfect solution thanks to our various solutions from:
  • MicroStep for plates, domes, and tubes;
  • HGG for pipe cutting machines;
  • PEMA for welding automation.
The traceability of cut pieces is extremely important in the petrochemical industry. That is why many of our customers in this industry choose to equip the machine with a marking unit. This saves a lot of time compared to manual marking and reduces the error rate.  For cutting domes and boiler heads, a bevel cutting head is indispensable. Unique to MicroStep cutting machines is that the machine can additionally be equipped with a 3D laser scanner and camera. In combination with the mScan software, a 3D model is created of the dome so that the operator can indicate the holes to be cut very precisely, resulting in precise, high-quality cuts.

Construction of machinery and equipment

Machine building is a broad industry with many applications; from machines for the food industry to agricultural machines and articulated loaders. To build these machines, a lot of parts are needed, usually made of steel.

To avoid depending on delivery times and high costs from suppliers, many machine builders choose to invest in their own cutting machine. The initial costs are higher, but the flexibility and long-term cost savings are enormous.

Because the industry is so versatile, a custom-made machine from MicroStep is usually the perfect solution. But for smaller machine builders, Swift-Cut machines can often meet the needs. So, whether you want a machine that continuously cuts machine parts or one that you only use occasionally for repairs: we provide the right solution for every application. And our customers agree.

Offshore and Shipbuilding

When making constructions such as wind turbines and ships, enormous amounts of steel are involved. And that steel comes in all shapes and thicknesses. Precision and versatility are the core values that a cutting machine must meet in these industries. MicroStep machines offer the perfect solution. With the combination of plasma and oxy-fuel, both thin and thick plate material can be cut. Because safety is extremely important, all machines meet the highest standards. And if additional safety measures are needed, we will discuss together what is possible.  The machines for these industries are usually equipped with a bevel cutting head. Because a construction such as a ship, for example, contains both straight and bevel cuts. MicroStep machines can be equipped with ‘Additional Bevelling Processes’, an advanced technology that offers the possibility to make additional bevel cuts of already existing straight-cut parts. This can be very useful, for example, to apply bevel cuts in very thick material.

Schools

To prepare students for a job in metalworking, a practical education is essential. A cutting machine can be an enormous asset for schools in their practical workshop.  Most schools opt for a Swift-Cut due to its compact size and favourable price. The machine is quick to install and easy to use. This way, not only the teachers, but also the students quickly get to grips with operating the machine.  Because many schools are limited in space and budget, a Swift-Cut Pro of 1250 x 1250 mm is the ideal solution. This limits both the required space and the investment costs.

Construction

Construction, like machine building, is a broad concept. From bridges and containers to scaffolding and stairs; they all contain cut steel. A cutting machine is therefore very useful.  For each specific application, one technology is better than another. Do you mainly cut thin metal? Then choose plasma. Do you regularly need a thicker piece? Then expand with oxy-fuel. Those who only cut thin plate material and find speed important should choose laser. If you don’t cut metal but, for example, only plastic, you choose a water jet After choosing the most suitable technology, you can start equipping the MicroStep machine with various accessories. A drilling and tapping unit, a pipe cutter, an inkjet marking unit, a 3D laser scanner, etc. The possibilities are endless!

Transport

You might not immediately associate a cutting machine with the transport industry. Yet such a machine can lighten a lot of transport-related work, such as making trailers, performing repairs on cars or trains, etc.  Performing cutting and repair work in-house offers many advantages. You work faster, have more flexibility and save outsourcing costs. A MicroStep machine is therefore the ideal investment.  The machine is fully customised, so adapted to each specific application. This way, we are sure that we offer the right solution for every project and ensure smooth long-term cooperation.
