About TB Shiprepair
Repair and maintenance of inland vessels up to a length of 110 meters. That is what TB Shiprepair does at their location in Meppel. In their other locations in Harlingen, Kampen, and Stroobos, they also build seagoing coasters, passenger ships, tugboats, trawlers, and inland vessels.
To meet growing demand and reduce dependence on external cutting companies, TB Shiprepair decided to replace their old cutting machine. After discussions with four suppliers, they chose the MicroStep CombiCut from Wouters Cutting & Welding (WCW).
“Not so much because it was the cheapest machine, but because it perfectly meets our requirements in terms of speed and accuracy.”
Investing in partnership and quality
In addition to the high-quality machine, there was also a good rapport between both parties, which is crucial when making such an investment. Trust grew during the installation and training process.
“During the three days of training, and afterwards, all our questions were answered. The service remains excellent even after delivery.”
A special aspect of this collaboration was the recycling of the old waterjet cutting table. It was given a new lease of life with a new gantry, a modern plasma source, and an advanced gas console.
With this robust, reliable cutting machine, TB Shiprepair has a perfect match for their many urgent jobs. The total working area is 27,000 mm x 3,500 mm.
In addition, the machine is easy to operate.
“Programming has become much simpler. Where previously it could take hours to locate an error in the drawing that prevented the machine from starting, this new software detects such issues automatically, allowing you to correct the error directly. Nesting is also done automatically, which significantly reduces the preparation time for cutting.”
One thing is certain: with this machine, TB Shiprepair will be able to work faster and better than ever.
